Child Abuse Clearance Policy
For Candidates applying for employment in the Nursing or Child Care Departments, a pre-employment background clearance will be conducted. This verification will seek arrests or convictions for Child abuse and other Child Welfare Crimes. Because specific clearance requirements (such as state child abuse registry checks, FBI fingerprint-based checks, and renewal frequency) vary by state law, Human Resources will confirm and apply the requirements of the state(s) in which the candidate will work.
All background investigations conducted by the Company will require your authorization in writing before the check will be conducted. Your continued employment may be conditional upon your acceptance to submit to such background verifications. Each employee may, at their own expense, request a copy of any adverse findings provided to the Company and investigate or correct such findings. You have legal rights under the Fair Credit Reporting Act and applicable state law to research and to dispute or explain any information prepared by these vendors, including receiving notice before any adverse action is taken based on a background report.
General information, not legal advice. Treat this as a drafting starting point, not a finished policy — employment law varies by jurisdiction and changes often, so have a licensed attorney tailor it to your situation before you rely on it.
