Weapons Policy
The Company believes it is important to establish a clear policy that addresses weapons in the workplace. All persons who enter Company property are prohibited from carrying a handgun, firearm, knife, or other weapon of any kind inside Company buildings or facilities, regardless of whether the person is licensed to carry the weapon or not.
The only exception to this policy will be police officers, security guards or other persons who have been given written consent by the Company to carry a weapon on the property.
Note: Where required by state law, this policy does not prohibit an employee who lawfully possesses a firearm from keeping it locked out of sight in their own personal vehicle in the Company parking lot. At least 25 states have enacted "parking lot laws" that protect this right (commonly requiring the firearm to be locked and out of sight), subject to certain exceptions. Applicability of this carve-out depends on the law of the state in which the facility is located and should be confirmed before enforcement.
Any employee disregarding this policy will be subject to immediate termination.
General information, not legal advice. Treat this as a drafting starting point, not a finished policy — employment law varies by jurisdiction and changes often, so have a licensed attorney tailor it to your situation before you rely on it.
